First Visit

At Seacoast Dentistry, Dr. Melissa Hamel, reserve an hour for a comprehensive oral examination at your initial appointment. This includes a thorough evaluation of your medical history, an extra-oral examination and intra-oral examination of soft and hard tissue.  We evaluate your current dental status and then develop a collaborative dental treatment plan to meet your current dental needs.

Once your periodontal status has been diagnosed, you will be appointed with our dental hygienist for the specific type of periodontal treatment that is necessary to restore your dental health. In addition to necessary x-rays, an intraoral camera will be utilized to better visualize your dental needs.

All diagnosed treatment recommendations are based upon evidence from current dental research.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

X-Rays

If your previous dentist has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. Please have them emailed to us at contact@seacoastdentistry.com. If additional x-rays are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
